Warming gins perfect for sipping by the fire
These warming gins and their easy-to-make cocktails are made for sipping by the fire. From a Winter Martini to a Bramble Mulled Wine, here’s what to drink when the temperature drops.

Canberra Distillery Winter Gin, Australia Canberra Winter Gin
This Winter Gin was created by Canberra Distillery for enjoyment on cold Canberra nights. It starts with lightly spiced gin, infused with basil and sweetened after distillation to give it a heady flavour and complex notes. You may also find coriander, cardamom, cinnamon or tangelo ahead of the juniper gin base and the basil infusion. But you’ll likely agree it’s a combination that warms the soul. ABV 38%. Winter Martini cocktail recipe
60mL Winter Gin
15mL vermouth
½ tsp of olive brine
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Stir (don’t shake!) and pour into a martini glass. Garnish with olives.

Sloe Gin Sour cocktail recipe
50 mL Plymouth Sloe Gin
20 mL simple syrup
25 mL lemon juice
10 mL egg white
Pour Sloe Gin, simple syrup, lemon juice and egg white into a shaker. Shake everything without ice. Add ice and shake again. Strain into a cocktail glass.


Four Pillars Sherry Cask Gin, Australia Cask Sherry Gin Four Pillars
Sherry Cask Gin is rich and layered, with fruit and nut flavours from the multi-award winning distiller Four Pillars in Yarra Valley. Their Sherry cask solera is made up of 42 casks, some from Spain and some from Australian Apera (fortified wine). The colour has deepened as the casks age, and residual sherry characters are underpinned by pine oil notes. 15mL Fresh lemon juice
15mL Fresh orange juice
Capi Flamin’ Ginger Beer
Angostura Aromatic Bitters
Build in a highball over ice. Float two dashes of bitters to garnish

25mL Opihr Spiced Gin
35mL Cumin espresso
35mL Creme de banana
7.5mL Sugar syrup
Shake down and double strain. Serve in a small cocktail glass. To make the Cumin espresso use 2.5g Cumin powder with 12 table spoons instant coffee (e.g Nespresso Intenso) and 500ml hot water. Combine the ingredients in a jug and stir until thoroughly mixed.

Bramble Mulled Wine cocktail recipe
50mL Edinburgh Gin Bramble & Honey
25mL Red wine
100mL Apple juice
Add the ingredients to a small pan and warm up over a low heat. Serve in a mug.

Ginger Meg cocktail recipe
60mL Tanglin Mandarin Chilli Gin
20mL Ginger Syrup
2 Dashes of Aromatic Bitters
Shake all ingredients together and pour into an ice-filled glass. Skewer a cube of crystallised ginger to garnish.
