The revival in the popularity of gin, or “ginaissance”, has more Gin bars opening up across the country. Here are a few of the most exciting gin-centric bars in our capital cities.
Tipsy Bull Canberra

Canberra's Tipsy Bull is fine-ish dining with a seasonal menu and decadent cocktails, served up classic or with a tipsy twist. Now gin is their thing! South Australia is known for producing some exceptional gins like Never Never and Applewood and their gin bars are equally good. Malt and Juniper on Adelaide’s iconic laneway Peel St, offers a cozy gin experience. Multi award-winning The Barber Shop in Sydney's CBD houses an impressive collection of over 700 gins from around the globe. Darwin's first gin bar - Charlie's of Darwin was recently named in the top 20 bars to visit in the world in 2021 according to UK newspaper, The Telegraph and recently released their own in-house gin Darwin featuring territory-inspired flavours and botanicals, like Kakadu Plum. Hobart is a gin lovers paradise and bespoke Tasmanian bar Society Salamanca is no exception. Particularly proud of the burgeoning Tasmanian gin industry, the bar showcases many small local distilleries like 40 Spotted and McHenry, as well as gins from around the World. Popular for their Gin Tasting Platters - which is a wonderful way to taste and compare different gins. You can also sample their house-made tonic freshly prepared on-site with all natural ingredients.
