The Single Shot presents a strong juniper note. Citrus is also evident together with herbaceous notes of bergamot, cardamom and lavender. This is an aromatic profile that calls out the Mediterranean!

MGC SINGLE SHOT GIN
🇦🇺 Australia
MGC SINGLE SHOT GIN is currently out of stock and unavailable for purchase.
In the multi award-winning Single Shot, seven botanicals are distilled together – rather than separately – for a gin that tastes unashamedly of juniper.
Andrew Marks, the talent behind Melbourne Gin Company, is a winemaker by trade, and a successful one at that. Many winemakers, even those who’ve experienced the heady highs of world-famous regions like Bordeaux and Burgundy first-hand, would be content with a successful family wine business and their own label. But Andrew isn’t like many others. He’s driven by the challenge. The challenge to conceive of an idea, to do it and – hopefully – to succeed.
For the multi international award-winning Single Shot, Andrew wanted something entirely different: a gin made in a single distillation. As opposed to the more traditional Dry Gin, the Single Shot’s seven botanicals – juniper, orange peel, angelica root, cardamom, lavender, Tasmanian leatherwood honey and Australian bergamot – are distilled together, rather than separately. The result is a gin that tastes unashamedly of juniper.
Melbourne Gin Company’s Single Shot Gin was a double Gold Medal-winner at the 2018 San Francisco World, Gin Master at the 2018 Gin Masters Awards London, and Gold Medal at the 2018 World Gin Masters – Asia (Hong Kong).
GIN SOCIETY TASTING NOTES
Andrew Marks’ original MGC gin, now known as the ‘Dry’, was his first venture into distillation. Eleven botanicals were distilled individually and then blended. This is what Andrew refers to as a “winemaker’s approach”. With the Single Shot, Andrew chose to pre-blend seven botanicals and distilled them as one. A distiller’s approach.
The Single Shot, just like its older sibling, presents a strong juniper note. Citrus is also evident together with herbaceous notes of bergamot, cardamom and lavender. This is an aromatic profile that calls out the Mediterranean! For this reason, I love to serve MGC Single Shot in a simple gin and tonic with refreshing Mediterranean flavours.

PUBLISHED TASTING NOTES
The Spirits Business
In addition to grabbing a Master medal, The Melbourne Gin Company’s Single Shot was also named Taste Master – meaning it was deemed ‘best in class’ among the Master recipients on the day.
Ultra Premium proved to be one of the strongest rounds of the day, resulting in 12 Golds and 10 Silvers. One of two Masters in the flight, The Melbourne Gin Company’s Single Shot, was applauded for its “excellent botanical recipe” and “good length”. One judge called the gin “big and flavoursome”, and loved the bold nose of lemon and orange peel.
The gin is made in a single distillation. Seven botanicals were selected for use, including juniper berries, orange peel, angelica root, Australian bergamot, cardamom pods, Tasmania leatherwood honey and lavender.
Drinks World
Melbourne Gin Company has added a new gin to their lineup, Single Shot. After five years of development, Single Shot is a gin made in a single distillation, meaning the botanicals are individually distilled then blended together.
This full flavoured gin is a real winner, backing this up with a number of accolades and becoming the most awarded gin that no one has yet tasted.
• Double Gold at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Awards
• Gin Master at the 2018 Gin Masters Awards London
• Gold Medal at the 2018 World Gin Masters – Asia (Hong Kong).
