New gin releases from Joadja Distillery
Dropped in to Joadja Distillery last week to taste their two new releases, Highland Dry Gin and Barrel Aged Gin. I wasn't disappointed. Definitely worth the visit!

Joadja is one of the few single malt distilleries in the world to grow their own barley and use water from their own pristine spring. Located in the Southern Highlands of NSW in the abandoned mining town of Joadja, only 1.5 hours drive south of Sydney.

Highland Gin
A bigger and bolder take on their original London style Dry Gin featuring ten native botanicals that are distilled separately to produce ten infusions that are then carefully blended together. A well-balanced gin with peppery tones that embodies the verdant Southern Highlands. When I asked how best to serve this gin the response was succinct - "neat".
Botanicals: Juniper, Aniseed Whole, Angelica Root, Cardamom, Coriander, Lemon Myrtle, Strawberry Gum, Mountain Pepper, Cinnamon Myrtle and Anise Myrtle.

Barrel Aged Gin (my favourite!)
Now this gin really rocked my socks. It's had the luxury of time to mature in ex-Tempranillo barrels sourced from La Rioja, Spain. The result is a sophisticated, woody yet sweeter gin. A great choice for a digestif or nightcap too - delicious.
Botanicals: Juniper, Aniseed Whole, Angelica Root, Cardamom, Coriander, Lemon Myrtle.

The distillery also produces award-winning rum, whisky, brandy and anis.

With free distillery tours and tastings its definitely worth a visit to the Southern Highlands. Opened from Thursday to Monday 10-4pm - bring a picnic lunch and the family for a great day out. For more information and to find stockists click here.
